A Day With Emma

Each child's needs and routines are different. The day will revolve around your child, but here's roughly how things might flow.

Morning
Handover & Free Play

Handover involves having a chat about how the night and day has been so far and where your child is at in their routine. From there, child-led open-ended play helps with the transition. Building, drawing, puzzles, whatever grabs their attention that morning.

Mid-Morning
Planned Activities & Learning

Play-based activities built around the Early Years Learning Framework. Sensory play, storytelling, arts and crafts, outdoor time. Whatever suits your child's age and where they're at.

Lunchtime
Meal Prep & Nutrition

Emma handles meals and snacks for the children. She'll work around your family's preferences and any allergies, keeping things consistent with what they're used to at home.

Afternoon
Rest, Reset & Gentle Play

Nap time for the little ones, quiet activities for older children. Reading, colouring, calm music. The afternoon follows your child's rhythm so they recharge properly.

Late Afternoon
Wrapping Up & Handover

Light play or outdoor time as the day winds down. When you get home, Emma will fill you in on how things went and anything worth knowing.

Frequently Asked

Everything families usually want to know before getting started.

Emma covers Canberra and surrounding areas. If you’re unsure whether your suburb is included, just reach out and she’ll let you know.

Emma has experience with all age groups in early childhood. She’s worked with newborns through to school-age children in both private nannying and childcare centres. Her speciality is infant and toddler care and education, particularly from birth to 24 months.

Cert III in Early Childhood Education and Care, HLTAID012 Childcare First Aid, WWVP (ACT), WWCC (NSW), current police check, full licence, and completion of professional development sessions and workshops with industry professionals. She’s also a member of the Australian Nanny Association. The full list is in the About section above.

If Emma is unwell, she’ll always let you know as early as she can. She can also help find a casual babysitter to step in so your family is still looked after. If she’s unavailable for the regular days and hours you need, the Find a Nanny service is a great way to take the work out of finding the right fit.

Emma can prepare meals and snacks for the children, help with light tidying, and handle school or activity drop-offs and pickups as part of the routine.

Emma always starts with a meet-and-greet. She’ll come and meet the primary carers and the child, get to know your expectations, and give you a chance to get to know her too. With permanent nanny bookings, she also encourages a trial shift at the primary place of care so she can observe and join in on the child’s daily routine alongside the primary carer. It’s a good way for everyone to get a feel for how things work before committing to anything. Nannies found through the Find a Nanny service are encouraged to do the same.

Emma handles the job postings, reviews applications, runs initial interviews, and takes care of all the background checks (qualifications, references, WWCC, the lot) on your behalf. She’ll also walk you through how to employ a nanny and what to expect. You get to spend more time with your family while she does the legwork.
